Nylon waste, otherwise polluting the Earth, is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. This chemically recycled nylon is made from used fishing nets, carpets, and pre-consumer plastic waste.
More than 700,000 tons of industrial fishing gear are lost in the ocean each year. Through their partnership with many fisheries and the Aquafil Project, they rescue discarded, unused and donated fishing nets from both industry and the oceans. ECONYL® can be used exactly the same as brand new nylon but it can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again.
Our Essentials Collection (and many more of our styles) are comprised of premium ECONYL® as well as many of our limited-release collections. It’s a beautiful fabric to work with and has positive benefits for our customers beyond its environmental impacts. ECONYL® is rated UPF50+ meaning it’s excellent coverage against the harsh sun and it’s incredibly durable with chlorine and sunscreens and oils.
ECONYL® is also certified by the Oeko-Tex® 100 Standard which ensures that no harmful substances are used in the production and dye process. To hold this certification products and materials are tested against over 100 harmful substances.
